It’s hard for me to remember the last time I took a LONG Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc. hiatus. And while I did suffer from withdraw the first 24 hours, I think it was one of the most satisfying things I’ve done in a while.
I realized that this holiday break was the perfect time to shift the focus back on my family and myself. I rarely get the chance to see my family so it was great to reconnect. And I also found the time to pamper myself, sleep-in, go to the doctor and even read a book (Precious by Sapphire).
I realized the true importance of connecting with others offline and not just behind a computer screen. And while managing all my relationships via Facebook is convenient, it is not sufficient (i.e. broadcasting Christmas wishes vs. making Christmas cards).
This year I promise myself and to others to make offline strides to connect in more meaningful ways.
